The 60^th Sanremo Festival is about to start! Eh, si', another year, another Sanremo Festival!

The Festival della canzone italiana (in English: Italian song festival) is a popular Italian song contest running since 1951 and held annually from the Teatro Ariston in the city of Sanremo. The 60^th Sanremo Festival starts Tuesday, February 16, 2010. This festival is one of John's favorite events and the year, Antonella Clerici is hosting the five-night event that stops Italy for almost a week. What's also a coincidence, is that John has liked Antonella Clerici since the times of ‘La prova del Cuoco’, ‘Sposami subito’, and ‘Il treno dei desideri’. So, he's is really excited to see this year. We can tell you more about these TV shows if you want, but they are basically cheesy Italian reality shows. Our friends in Italy are kind of shocked by the fact that we know Antonella Clerici and have watched her shows; they think she is just a ‘smart blonde’.

But seriously, Sanremo Festival is the most important music event in Italy where there are two categories of contestants (the "Big" stars and the "Newcomers") vying for the grand prize. The Festival will last until Saturday February 20^th. That's when we will know who the winners are.
